BEYOND THE HORRIZON - WHY YOUR VESSEL NEEDS a Professional Survey

All insurers in Trinidad and Tobago have started upon 1st January 2024 require that each and every Private vessel on their books have a valuation performed.

This raises many questions which we answer daily to our customers and we seek to address.

1. ITS AN INSURANCE REQUIREMENT.

Guardian General, Beacon Insurance, Gulf Insurance, Trinre, Sagicor General and CG United ALL REQUIRE vessels over a certain age to have Condition & Valuation survey performed by a qualified marine expert, before, they will provide coverage for your boat. This age condition varies by vessel type and Nautica can help guide you through this process.

The survey helps the insurance company assess the risk associated with insuring your vessel and determines the appropriate coverage and premiums. The survey can identify any structural issues, mechanical problems, or safety hazards that might compromise the integrity of your vessel. This helps ensure the safety of everyone on board.

Our Suggested Nautica Panel consists of any of these experts. The cost is around 13-17 USD per ft.

Look at the brighter side - OTHER BENEFITS TO HAVING A SURVEY ON YOUR VESSEL INCLUDE

CALCULATING YOUR CURRENT MARKET VALUE

If you ever decide to sell your boat, having a recent survey can increase its marketability and potentially its resale value. Prospective buyers are often more comfortable purchasing a boat that has been professionally surveyed and deemed seaworthy.

PEACE OF MIND

For those of you avid boaters, the adage of Two eyes are better than one holds true.

Knowing that your boat has been thoroughly inspected by a qualified professional can provide peace of mind, especially when you're out on the water. It reduces the risk of unexpected breakdowns or accidents due to unnoticed issues.

Overall, surveying your boat is an investment in its safety, legality, insurability, and resale value, as well as your peace of mind while enjoying your time on the water.
